Here it is Aluminum Black I believe it leaves a thin oxide layer on the aluminum. I have used this stuff on gunparts. Let me say this: it is better than a paint pen, not anywhere close to true anodizing. WebBirchwood Aluminum Black. THis blackening solution is based on selenic acid and works well on specific aluminum alloys. it will work well mostly on 7000 series alloys like those used for AR recievers as well as low silicon containing alloys. it will not work well on 6000 series alloys or some cast aluminum alloys with high silicon content.
