Web28 jan. 2024 · I want another mower (I want two) and was looking at older disc mowers. Older disc mowers seem to be a potential money pit because of the high cost of gear bed repair. I have helped friends repair their rotary mowers and mine. I got discouraged and started looking at older sickle mowers, I spent a lot of time on a new holland 451. WebRecently bought a JD 350 sickle mower that had one section with nuts/bolts instead of rivets. This section had the slotted head on top and the nut on the bottom. The knife clips were original JD and not the 'high arch' design. Seemed to work without any problem. My preference is to use rivets to replace sections.

The new rivets were hammered in with a ball peen hammer with a chunk of railroad iron under the sickle to hammer against.
